Hallmarks of T cell aging

چکیده

The aged adaptive immune system is characterized by progressive dysfunction as well increased autoimmunity. This decline responsible for elevated susceptibility to infection and cancer, decreased vaccination efficacy. Recent evidence indicates that CD4+ T cell–intrinsic alteratins contribute chronic inflammation are sufficient accelerate an organism-wide aging phenotype, supporting the idea cell plays a major role in body-wide deterioration. In this Review, we propose ten molecular hallmarks represent common denominators of aging. These grouped into four primary (thymic involution, mitochondrial dysfunction, genetic epigenetic alterations, loss proteostasis) secondary (reduction TCR repertoire, naive–memory imbalance, senescence, lack effector plasticity), together they explain manifestation two integrative (immunodeficiency inflammaging). A challenge now weighing relative impact these on understanding their interconnections, with final goal defining targets interventions process. Mittelbrunn Kroemer

The Hallmarks of Aging

Aging is characterized by a progressive loss of physiological integrity, leading to impaired function and increased vulnerability to death. This deterioration is the primary risk factor for major human pathologies, including cancer, diabetes, cardiovascular disorders, and neurodegenerative diseases. Aging research has experienced an unprecedented advance over recent years, particularly with the...

Molecular Hallmarks of Adult T Cell Leukemia

The molecular hallmarks of adult T cell leukemia (ATL) comprise outstanding deregulations of signaling pathways that control the cell cycle, resistance to apoptosis, and proliferation of leukemic cells, all of which have been identified by early excellent studies. Nevertheless, we are now confronted the therapeutic difficulties of ATL that is a most aggressive T cell leukemia/lymphoma. Using ne...

Recent Advances in T Cell Signaling in Aging

The immune system of mammalian organisms undergoes alterations that may account for an increased susceptibility to certain infections, autoimmune diseases, or malignancies. Well characterized are age related defect in T cell functions and cell mediated immunity. Although it is well established that the functional properties of T cells decrease with age, its biochemical and molecular nature is...

Olive Oil and the Hallmarks of Aging.

Aging is a multifactorial and tissue-specific process involving diverse alterations regarded as the "hallmarks of aging", which include genomic instability, telomere attrition, epigenetic alterations, loss of proteostasis, deregulated nutrient sensing, mitochondrial dysfunction, cellular senescence, stem cell exhaustion and altered intracellular communication. Virtually all these hallmarks are ...

T cell aging

The immune system exhibits profound age-related changes, collectively termed immunosenescence. The most visible of these is the decline in protective immunity, which results from a complex interaction of primary immune defects and compensatory homeostatic mechanisms. The sum of these changes is a dysregulation of many processes that normally ensure optimal immune function. Recent advances sugge...
